The Hatch Chile Pocket Cookbook app inspires would-be chile chefs wherever they may be. With recipe ideas and cooking tips videos, this free mobile app set out to make customers say, "I didn’t know I could do that with Hatch Chiles!"

A 16-Year Tradition

Central Market has been roasting Hatch Chiles every year for 16 years. This year, the grocer wanted to inspire customers to deepen their knowledge of the beloved ingredient.

With help from Adaptdev, Springbox led the creation of a cooking app that allowed users to explore and favorite dozens of Hatch Chile recipes by meal type, including desserts! Users could also create shopping lists, view a hands-on cooking tutorial and learn how to roast their own chiles.

A World of Hatch Engagement

Springbox devised a multi-channel campaign to promote the 16th annual Hatch Chile festival in stores, a Hatch Chile recipe contest, and the chance to judge the contest in addition to promoting the mobile app. The campaign included social engagement via Facebook and Twitter, ads and promotions, a mobile site engagement and a home page engagement at CentralMarket.com.

Hatch Lovers Respond

On the first day of launch, the mobile app had over 1600 downloads, with a total of 5,832 downloads during the campaign. Customers showed their appreciation of the app with a 15% click through rate from the Central Market mobile site.
