An Appetite for Engagement

When your grocery store behaves more like a fun, helpful foodie friend, you win. A series of campaigns designed to promote unique in-store events helped Central Market grow an audience of more than 17,000 fans and get that audience excited about participating in a great relationship — both online and off.

Anticipation is Bliss

From an incredible selection to a staff of expert "foodies" and signature in-store events, shopping Central Market is an experience. We helped Central Market communicate their unique brand value on their website. Then, we worked to build a social audience, engage customers online and drive them into the stores to get that experience in person.

Whether by helping them through the holidays, celebrating their love of chocolate and whisking them away to Argentina, we let customers know what a valuable friend Central Market could be.

Campaigns combining interactive content, banner advertising and social strategies energized relationships. We rewarded interest insider information that Central Market's food-loving customers could share with their friends.

As the audience grew, it got more talkative, more positive and more interested in what Central Market had to offer. We saw bigger social spikes from lower levels of investment as a result.

Holidays: We're All In It Together

During the holidays, Central Market offers delicious, chef-made favorites. This year, we took the effort Central Market foodies and chefs put into creating the ultimate catering menu and made it into something more.

From the run up to Thanksgiving through New Years, we framed that catering guide with a weekly slate of gift ideas, recipes and entertaining, reheating information and an all-important Holiday Hotline number. It was clear that Central Market wanted customers to be successful ... and stuffed. And customers ate it up.

We knew the Central Market home page already boasted traffic seeking weekly specials. To grab attention, we promoted Give Delicious on the home page. Fully 21% of total traffic accepted our invitation to delve deeper into the site. Customers were clearly ready to "get more" from Central Market online.

Chocolate: All Signs Point to Yum

Building from the success of the Holiday campaign, we created a buzz around Central Market's Chocolate Festival. A sweet online Chocoscope offered a quick and easy quiz to pair personalities with the perfect chocolate — plus a chance to pick up a free bar at local Central Market stores.

For this event, we kept things fun and simple, capitalizing on the nearly universal love of the product to spread the word efficiently. Visitors were pleased— and quite willing to give an email address to get the goodies.

Chocoscope garnered more traffic from external sources, and greater spikes of interest from lower levels of investment. In addition to Facebook ads and Central Market's Facebook page, we saw traffic from other Facebook pages as friends reached out to other friends. Now we're not just preaching to the choir, but to potential converts.

Passport to Argentina: A Ticket to Full Immersion

An event-focus allows the Central Market site to stay fresh as new site content launches to support the freshest in-store happenings. During Passport Argentina, Central Market spread a celebration of Argentine culture, food and drink across every department and every store.

Focusing on the mini-events within the event, Springbox developed an enhanced calendar to help users find out when the tango lesson or grilling workshop or cooking classes with Argentine chefs would be offered in their location. Bonus: Improved calendar functionality developed for this event will benefit all events going forward.

We drove awareness of Passport Argentina with Facebook ads and postings. The Central Market social fanbase is now large enough and active enough to drive traffic by sharing news with their friends. As relationships with fans grow and as participation increases, Central Market rolls out more innovative events — a win-win for stores and for fans.
