LIVESTRONG Goes Mobile with Cancer Dictionary iPhone App
Austin, TX — Sep 13, 2010
Springbox developed an iPhone application to help LIVESTRONG provide a cancer support resource to Spanish-speaking cancer survivors and their supporters.
Developed through a grant from the Centers for Disease Control, the LIVESTRONG Dictionary of Cancer Terms enables users to quickly search 6,000+ cancer terms provided by the National Cancer Institute, without internet access.
Originally, LIVESTRONG planned to support Spanish-speakers with a Spanish-only cancer dictionary. Springbox responded with an elegant bilingual application that allows users to switch between Spanish and English with one touch.
In future phases of development, Springbox hopes to add features and to expand access to more mobile devices.
The LIVESTRONG Dictionary of Cancer Terms is free and available now on iTunes. “We are excited to serve this community with a mobile resource that’s so easy to use. Springbox was the perfect partner to get us there,” said Jeff Manning, LIVESTRONG Senior Manager of New Media.
“We leapt into action to put a grant opportunity to good use for LIVESTRONG,” says Becky Fabre, Springbox Account Executive. “We give our client a lot of credit for knowing these users and how best to serve them. That kind of clarity allowed us to innovate, even in a short timeframe.”
