Casey Locker

Senior Developer

What did you do before joining Springbox?

After college I worked at Datatomato, later called Tipit, a local internet development company from 2000 to 2005. I can't thank those guys enough for helping me realize that I can do what I love and actually make a living at it. From 2005 to 2007, I was a self employed developer for contract. From 2007 to present, I've been at Springbox.

Where do you find inspiration?

Everywhere. I read dev/design/diy blogs every day to stay up on current trends. I'm a maker even outside of coding. I've always been interested in taking things apart to see how they work and, more importantly, putting them back together to make them work better. I'm a science nerd. My Netflix queue is full of documentaries and biographies. Paul Irish,  Matt Mullenweg,  Emily Lewis and John Resig deserve a place in any developer's Twitter feed. Steve Wozniac, Alan Turing and Isaac Newton are personal heroes.

Which websites have inspired you recently?

With development and design converging more and more, recently, I'm a big fan of design blogs like Method & Craft, as well as those that span both disciplines, like Smashing Magazine. The Tuts+ sites, such as Nettuts+, are always full of great stuff, too.

Which trends in interactive are you currently paying attention to?

Geolocation, game theory, responsive design, mobile/hybrid/desktop compatibility and interactivity and social as a personal tool.
