Get to know the people who make Springbox an exceptional agency. What Inspires You? is a series of posts that offer insight into our talented and creative staff.

Katie Kirkpatrick

Content Director

What did you do before joining Springbox?
My first job in the real world was on the internal creative team at Neiman Marcus Advertising. Via NM Online, I was introduced to e-commerce — I fell head over heels for interactive advertising and Christian Louboutins. In 2005, I took I-35 south to join T3 in Austin and became a lead creative on the JCPenney account. I had the opportunity to craft the voice and manage the ongoing conversation across digital channels, including the first official JCPenney and JCP Teen Facebook pages, Twitter, web media, web video series, email and more. I also developed and managed the content strategy for the first official UPS Facebook Page.

Where do you find inspiration?
Everywhere. From magazines to books to friends to coworkers to travel destinations to local hangouts to antique stores to grocery stores — the list keeps going.

Which websites have inspired you recently?
Lately, I’ve been focused on home décor and first birthday party planning ideas.
Design Sponge: www.designsponge.com
Oh Dee Doh: www.ohdeedoh.com
Mod Cloth: www.modcloth.com
Hip Hip Hooray: www.hiphiphoorayblog.com

Which trends in interactive are you currently paying attention to?

  • Mobile NFC: Fascinating to think our phones will become our wallets in the very near future.
  • Mobile/iPad Behaviors: Mobile devices are a 24/7 connection to consumers. Understanding mobile behavior is essential to creating successful mobile and iPad apps to enhance a user’s everyday life.
  • Facebook and Brand Marketing: I like to watch and compare how brands build a presence on Facebook, harvest an audience and continue a relevant conversation. It’s interesting to see how different brands in different industries approach the same-old questions: quantity vs. quality, ROI measurement, the right frequency, customer support issues, talking vs. listening, internal process, etc.
  • Information Overload: Now that we have all this valuable content what do we do with it? Where does it go? The cloud? There is so much information at our fingertips — how we organize, cultivate, curate and archive content is key to keeping a relevant, forward-thinking conversation in the future.
