What did you do before joining Springbox?

Before Springbox, I worked as a mom for a while. I loved that job, but I had to quit. Just kidding...I'm still a mom. Oh yeah, and before that I worked for Milkshake and Frog Design and Whole Foods Market, too. Wherever I worked, I always wrote stuff and helped figure out what stuff should be written in the first place.

Where do you find inspiration?

Lately, I'm surprised by how people are embracing technology to share information, communicate, collaborate and get word out about anything and everything they care about. Social and mobile tools are visibly empowering them. They'll say things like, "Oh, I'm not very technical," and yet, here they are running their own little social campaigns and organizing community projects with sophisticated tools. People are feeling more informed and connected to each other, and seem to be inspired to take on more projects than they might have in the past. All and all, a more empowered community feels more hopeful, active and open to new ideas. If I, in my role at Springbox, can help to create experiences that feel effortless, intuitive and helpful to people who have a lot of other stuff on their minds — if I can help some of the brands I work with "be there" for people — I feel like I'm doing something worthwhile.

Which websites have inspired you recently?

Honestly, I'm still impressed with and inspired by Groupon. I love that they came up with a strategy to effectively build a community of engaged consumers — including myself — who gladly allow them to trot offers in front of our faces. I've always hated unsolicited offers. But, now I look forward to seeing the Groupon each day. I buy for myself and for others. I read the goofy copy just for kicks. I'm grateful when they reminded me to use my Groupons before they expire, and happy to give them more details about my preferences when asked. I've even gone out and bought things for full price because a Groupon made a certain brand or business so top-of-mind for me. Impressive, Groupon, very impressive.

Which trends in interactive are you currently paying attention to?

I'm psyched that content strategy seems to be on everyone's lips right now. The idea that content is a valuable asset has always been around. But as the proliferation of devices and platforms for getting content out there explodes, it is becoming ever more important to ask "why." The space where business goals and human needs align is that sweet spot I like to help clients find. When are people interested in what you have to say, and what do they need to know while in that context? Fascinating.
